Cape Town Favourites: The Plant-Based Edition

Cape Town CBD, AKA, Vegan Heaven. Since becoming a plant-based eater, I have found it increasingly easy to eat out in Cape Town. Whether it’s new vegan restaurants popping up around town or existing ones expanding their menu’s to accommodate the shift in Capetonian mindsets alike, I have been spoiled for choice. As will you…

My top picks:

The Kind Kitchen

If you are looking for the best vegan versions of family favourite breakfasts, then The Kind Kitchen is definitely the place for you. From vegan bacon, eggs and cheeses, to vegan Nutella croissants, they’ve got you covered. Chef Jay Mac has a passion for recreating old favourites to be accessible for vegans, and he has definitely got it right! Just ask Ed Sheeran, who made a point of stopping in to try it for himself!

Plant Based Eating Recommendations Cape Town Jessy's Waffles

Jessy's Waffles

A personal favourite for breakfast, lunch and dessert! Jessy creates fully vegan and gluten-free waffles and flap-jacks, and with so many to choose from, everyone will leave happy. Her waffles include savoury and sweet options, so good luck choosing between the two. Trust me, you won’t even know they are good for you, they taste sinful!

Highlights: Waffle of the month (always worth a try!)

One of the best things to happen to Cape Town was the Balducci's Vegan Menu. My #1 dinner spot recommendation goes to them! Trust me, it’s a weekly outing of ours. What is so great about Balducci's is that you can invite the whole family along and be sure everyone will have plenty to choose from, vegan or not.

Highlights: R79 vegan/or non-vegan pizzas and pasta until 30 November 2019.
