French Cinema Inspired Engagement Session

Engagement Shoot

An Engagement Session in Downtown Portland, inspired by French Cinema. Captured by Marcela Pulido.

This incredible downtown Portland shoot is masterfully captured by Marcela Pulido, a vibrant and soulful photographer. Her words on this shoot:

“Markie and Mehran wanted to do something a little different for their engagement session. Inspired by French Cinema, we wandered through the streets of Downtown Portland stopping at quintessential Portland landmarks such as the Ace HotelStumptown Coffee, and Powell’s Bookstore. Early on I told them what we were creating was more of a collaboration, less styled and posed and more like creating a scene out of a movie. We were inspired by the cinema, the intimacy and romance captured in French films from which I took a few choice captions to fit the scene, creating our own little screen captures of their date-day in Portland. We ended their session decked out in leather motorcycle jackets in front of the Kelly’s Olympian neon sign and vibrant red motorcycle.”

Our take: Anyone can stand in a random field at sunset, have their photo taken and be engaged. But what if you started thinking more about what your engagement shoot is or what it means, and how you can turn it into something truly special and unique to you as a couple? It can just be an hour or two of getting to know your photographer and getting a few snaps for your wedding website or invitations, and that’s totally okay, but it could also be an hour or two of you and your love celebrating yourselves as people, without the other distractions that come from a wedding day. You have the freedom to do whatever the fuck you want. Go on an adventure, try something new together, cook a meal, go skinny-dipping or stroll around rainy streets and bookstores, being inspired by French cinema like these two. You’ll never have this moment again, might as well make it magical! Love, The Full Hearts Team
