Thoughts on Boudoir Sessions by Golden Fox Photography

Guest Piece

A boudoir session focuses on promoting body confidence. It strives to be an uplifting, feminine experience where you may see how beautiful you are. It is all about embracing the body you have in any stage of your life. A piece by Simone Davis of Golden Fox Photography.

Being a photographer, I realised how critical women can be about their bodies. I wanted to create a safe and comfortable environment where I could use my abilities to empower women through the art of photography. I’m constantly inspired to make them see and believe in their own beauty.

I really started falling in love with boudoir after seeing how a woman, when genuinely complemented and showed which angles and poses work best in different lighting situations, immediately starts to brighten up and feel more confident and empowered in herself. In that one moment, her whole posture and attitude changes. Because of experiences like this, I learned that by uplifting someone, being encouraging and celebrating them earnestly, I could really influence the way that she sees herself at that moment. I feel strongly that, as women, we need to find ways to encourage and uplift each other in any way possible.

A boudoir session focuses on promoting body confidence. It strives to be an uplifting, feminine experience where you may see how beautiful you are. It is all about embracing the body you have in any stage of your life. A session like this can be done before you get married, after you get married, when you have worked toward a fitness goal and want to celebrate your progress, during pregnancy, after pregnancy, after gaining weight or losing weight. Your confidence can (and should) be celebrated at any time, there is no need to wait for ‘the perfect time’. Body confidence doesn’t come from achieving the ‘perfect body’ but rather embracing the body you have and realising that it is already perfect.

What to expect from a Golden Fox Boudoir Session:

“My goal is to guide you through the entire process with humour and encouragement. Once you have booked your shoot, you will be sent an email with a list of tips for you to go through in preparation for your shoot.

Outfits are an important part of completing your look on the day. I have compiled a Pinterest board as a source of inspiration that will help you with ideas for looks to potentially go for. If you are unsure of any outfits, you can bring a few options along and I will assist you in choosing the right pieces and styling them. You also don’t have to buy fancy, new items; bring things from your own cupboard that you love and already feel comfortable in! But by all means, splurge on a new outfit if that is what you want to do!

It is completely normal to feel nervous before your shoot (this type of shoot is not something most people are used to!). But there is no need to worry! My job is to help and guide you with every pose, to make you look absolutely amazing. Each session starts with a warm-up that allows me to see which lighting, angles and poses work best with your body and personality. Movement is very important, so we are going to keep things flowing the entire time. Posing is my speciality, so I will make sure you are always posed to look your absolute best (I’ll even be lying on the floor with you showing you exactly what to do!)!

A Golden Fox Boudoir Shoot is time you take out of your busy life to celebrate you as the woman you are and to focus on nothing else except yourself and your body. It is a time to realise, and celebrate, your own beauty and to feel confident in your own skin.”
